Player of the Night

Michael Nylander was the clutch guy for the Rangers in their win against the Thrashers on Thursday night. Nylander had a goal (the winner) and two assists for 4 points on the night. Nylander, pictured in white, was very instrumental setting up teammates to take the lead against Atlanta and then putting the icing on the cake, making it 4-2, late in the second period.

Game Winning Goal Scorers of the Night
In Atlanta, the Rangers took Game 1 against the Thrashers 4-3 and Michael Nylander scored the winner for the bonus point. The Flames gave up four, including Nicklas Lidstrom's game winner in a 4-1 loss to the Red Wings. The Devils manhandled the Lightning to a degree and it was Zach Parise's second goal of the night that was the winner. Chris Drury also had a pair of goals and it was his first one that counts as the game-winner. Dale leads the pool with 3 game winners thus far in the early part of the playoffs.

On Friday night, we'll see three games...
The Sharks won their opener in Nashville Arena in double overtime and will look to swap home-ice advantage or at least keep the split going to the Tank. Jonathon Cheechoo will miss Game 2 with a sprained knee. On TSN @ 6pm...

The Canucks will try for a 2-0 lead before going to Dallas against the Stars. Quadruple overtime was the storyline of choice in Game 1 and hopefully it won't go quite that long this time around. I plan on going to the bar for it and really, I don't think I want to be there for that long watching hockey... I'm sure I won't remember it. On CBC @ 7pm...

The Wild didn't look too bad in their 2-1 loss to Anaheim. Now they'll try to earn the split away in Anaheim. The Ducks were able to contain the Slovaks in the first game, but you have to know they'll come out skating in the second game. On TSN @ 8:30pm...

All times are Mountain.
