Flames are Lining Up

The Calgary Flames are seemingly far from done in the off-season, but I thought I would give a little write up and see for myself how the Flames are shaping up thus far. The biggest move in the off-season has probably been either the Jarome Iginla extension or the hiring of Mike Keenan as head coach. Iginla has pretty much been named the Franchise Player, while Keenan will be used to motivate the team as a hard-nosed coach. The veteran signings of Adrian Aucoin and Owen Nolan will give both grit and experience to the line-up and may serve to be a great pair of additions.

The team has two notable restricted free agents left to sign (Giordano and Godard), but they've seemingly already filled those holes with either new talent or young talent from the farm. The team are still yet to choose whether they'll go with a back-up goalie from the AHL or go out and get a new one from the market. For the line-up's sake, I'll be using an AHL goalie.

This line-up, all signed, is worth roughly $45 million, so there is some room to improve, but with only some minor signings left to do. We will definitely see if it's enough.

That's not a bad line-up as it stands. Irving will not likely be backing up Kiprusoff come opening night, but his salary was available to me, so that's why I used him.
