Wild Add Rookie

James Sheppard seems to have won a job with the Minnesota Wild this season, as he's signed an entry-level contract with the Wild over the weekend.

Sheppard will join the club as the fifth centre and may find himself a role on the team if he can make the best of his opportunities in practice. Head coach Jacques Lemaire wanted to teach the prospect himself, as he's developed into quite the young prospect.

Unlike Sheppard, prospects Benoit Pouliot and Petr Kalus didn't make the cut, as they were sent down to Houston of the AHL on Sunday. Sheppard is unlikely to be a big pool player, but if he does light it up, he'll be best served as a mid-season acquistion.
