It's All Done!

Well, there you have it, folks. The playoffs have concluded and the Red Wings come away as champions once again. With the conclusion of the playoffs, comes the end of the road for the playoff pool as well and on top, we have Angela, who finished with 245 points, 3 better than both John P. and Mike E. who finished second and third, with John coming away with second place money because of his goals for total. Benson finished fourth, one point behind both John & Mike, as he couldn't wrap enough points out of Game 6 to work in his favour for the money.

Congratulations to our three winners!

Of course, all of the talk now is about the firsts for the Red Wings... captain, Newfoundlander and all that jazz. Well, not here. All the lead-up was enough for this guy. It will just be a congratulations to the Red Wings for their accomplishment. The poise and skill of the veteran Red Wings team proved to be savvy enough to whip the young kids into shape, despite the kids making it into an entertaining series.

Certainly, the best Red Wing in the pool was Henrik Zetterberg (Box 1) and he took the Conn Smythe Trophy for playoff MVP. Zetterberg finished the pool scoring with 13 goals, 14 assists and had 4 game-winners for 31 points. This total also puts him on the pool All-Star Team from Box 1.

The pool All-Star Team would have finished with 336 points, almost 100 better than the winning team in the pool. On the team includes: Henrik Zetterberg (Box 1), Pavel Datsyuk (Box 2), Jonathan Cheechoo (Box 3), Jiri Hudler (Box 4), Mike Modano (Box 5), Joe Pavelski (Box 6), Ryan Smyth (Box 7), Dion Phaneuf (Box 8), Craig Rivet (Box 9), Scott Niedermayer (Box 10), Stephane Robidas (Box 11), Marty Turco (Box 12), Sidney Crosby (Box 13), Jaromir Jagr (Box 14), Marian Hossa (Box 15), Andrei Kostitsyn (Box 16), R.J. Umberger (Box 17), Jeff Carter (Box 18), Brandon Dubinsky (Box 19), Mike Green (Box 20), Braydon Coburn (Box 21), Andrew Ference (Box 22), Mike Komisarek (Box 23) and Marc-Andre Fleury (Box 24).

He may not have won the Cup, but he was the playoff MVP for the pool... Marc-Andre Fleury (Box 24). He finished with 14 wins and 3 shutouts in the playoffs to take the best player mention with 34 points. The coming-of-age playoff run for Fleury makes him a top contender for a high pick in next year's pools, as confidence should be high for the young goalkeeper. He played exceptionally well and silenced his critics for the most part.
