Numminen Remains in Buffalo

The Buffalo Sabres have re-signed defenseman Teppo Numminen and signed forward Tyler Bouck to new one-year deals on Friday.

sabresNumminen, 40, played in one game last season after returning from open-heart surgery to repair a faulty valve. He managed to play in the Sabres' finale of the regular season and didn't register a point. It will be a big question as to how well he'll be able to contribute to the team when he suits up again for another season. Likely, it won't be anywhere near his career-high totals of 54 points, while he was playing for Winnipeg.

If he is healthy, he will likely contribute in the 20-30 points range, which should qualify him for a pool selection in the later rounds.

Bouck, 28, played the entire 2007/'08 season in the AHL with the Portland Pirates. He has spent some time in Dallas, Phoenix and Vancouver before his signing in Buffalo. Only has a career-high of 7 points in 48 games, while with Dallas, so he doesn't figure to be much of a pool candidate.
