The Sharks continued moves to make sure they are underneath the cap ceiling by waiving defenseman Kyle McLaren. McLaren's $2.5 million cap hit sitting on the books and plenty of good defensemen in the system, it was an easy choice for management to move McLaren. With being waived, McLaren will be moved off the roster, either by trade, claimed off waivers, sent to the minors or possibly a move to Europe. That sort of move will move his cap hit off the books and the Sharks will be good to go for the start of the season.
