Red Wings Line Up

With the assignment of a few players and the waiving of Aaron Downey (for assignment) the Detroit Red Wings look ready to go for the coming season. They are carrying some extra players to fill the void of the injured Darren McCarty and Chris Chelios, but overall they are good to go.

Derek Meech has been added in the role of filling in for Chris Chelios and he will be demoted back to the AHL when Chelios is healthy, so you don't want to pick him for your team. It would have to be a very deep pool for that to happen though. Otherwise, it looks like business as usual in Detroit. They will be a great team to pick from.

The Red Wings are now fitting underneath the salary cap ceiling with their 22-man roster, without the injuries of McCarty and Chelios. Their current number is approximately $$56.2 million, which doesn't leave them much room for maneuvre come the trade deadline, but who will they really need to pick up?
