Sharks Demote McLaren

The Sharks couldn't seem to move Kyle McLaren, so they assigned him to their minor league club on Wednesday, along with Brad Staubitz and Riley Armstrong. Those transactions brought the Sharks down to the league's maximum amount of players of 23. See below.

There are a couple new faces on the forward lines in Tomas Plihal and Lukas Kaspar, who played 25 games for the big club combined last season. In those 25 games, they only managed 3 points. They'll be out for depth forward positions. Now, Ryan Clowe will have some big shoes to fill this regular season... his playoff shoes. No one ventured out of their comfort zone in my draft to pick him up, but if anyone remembers, Clowe was quite the dynamo in the playoffs, slightly overshadowed by Johan Franzen of the Wings however.

The Sharks now have an active 23-man roster, including one player on the IR, Torrey Mitchell. That 23-man roster sets the Sharks back about $56.1 million, with very little to spare for the remainder of the year. The Sharks, with their impoved blueline, will have to make-do with what they have this year.
