Knee Injuries Hinder Senators

The Senators got even more bad news this week, see the earlier post, as both Mike Fisher and Chris Neil each received a full diagnosis on their knee injuries and they are both going to see an extended amount of time on the outside looking in. This is terrible news, considering how well the Senators have been doing lately... losing five straight.

Fisher, a Draft pick of Derek's this season, will miss out on upwards of four weeks with his knee injury, which is diagnosed as just a sprain. He could be back as soon as two weeks, theoretically. In 16 games this season, Fisher has only picked up 2 goals and 4 assists, which is an awfully slow pace. Besides the Pizza line in Ottawa, not many players have more than 6 points on the team. Some rest will hopefully spark some offense in Fisher's return.

Being only a few days away from the Draft, Fisher's presence in the Draft beyond Week Nine is awfully cloudy. He does have a chance of staying on Derek's team, since Derek does have a few players who need to be dropped as well, so it will be interesting to see if he stays or goes.

In Neil's case, he'll have to have surgery on his knee, as he needs some repairing on the meniscus in his knee. This should keep him out of the Sens' line-up for upwards of six weeks. Really bad news for the Box 24 forward, who has also struggled offensively, only scoring 2 goals and 1 assist in 17 games for the Senators.
