Thursday's Scratches

Sure, he was the talk of the town (or the league) when he finally made his first appearance in a regular season game, scoring a hat-trick, but Fabian Brunnstrom has been ice cold since then. Brunnstrom collectively has 7 points (6G, 1A) in 13 games for the Stars, which isn't a terrible pace, it just isn't the pace that the team was looking forward to when they signed him to his big deal. Brunnstrom did sit out the first few games, only to arrive with bells on, so possibly this is going to be the tactic to get him going. Dallas next faces off against Phoenix on Saturday night, it will be interesting to see if he makes a return then and what kind of impact he'll have.

The goaltending situation in Edmonton seems to remain cloudy, as Dwayne Roloson, who had a few consecutive starts already this season, was a healthy scratch against the Leafs, as Mathieu Garon backed up Jeff Drouin-Deslauriers in the 5-2 loss. The loss should open up the crease to either Garon or Roloson on Saturday night against Colorado, but who will it be? Roloson also continues to surface in plenty of trade rumours, so he'll also play as bait to many news stories about a possible trade.
