Philly Updates Injuries

On Monday, the Flyers coaching staff was good enough to update everyone on their injured players' status, so I thought I would chime in here to let you know what they had said. The Flyers have definitely been run amok with injuries this season, a lot of which have affected players that were taken in the Draft or written down on the Sheet.

Daniel Briere, a Don Draft Pick, has started skating again, as he recovers from a nagging groin injury. He was scheduled to be down for five weeks at the beginning of December and he figures he'll be another week, possibly two, before he gets back into the Flyers' line-up. Briere has had a hard time with his injuries this season, only playing in 9 games.

Next on the list is Simon Gagne, a Larry Draft pick this season. He has been sidelined with a shoulder injury a couple days ago. Although he has been on the ice skating, his shoulder injury is still too much to bare to start practicing. The team considers him day-to-day, but his original timeline should hold pretty true to be fully mended.

Box 21 forward, Joffrey Lupul, has been diagnosed with an abdominal pull and the team believes he'll be out fr about two weeks. He has been placed on the injured reserve.

Claude Giroux, the Box 25 forward, has suffered a mild concussion from the elbow he received in Anaheim and is considered day-to-day, but a minimum of a week.

Apparently Antero Niittymaki had suffered an injury, which hasn't been disclosed, in the team's win in Los Angeles last night and will likely be out for a week to 10 days. The Box 32 goaltender will go on the shelf for a while, it looks like.
