Thursday Night's Pool Moves

We are still awaiting word of what Ilya Kovalchuk's mystery upper body injury is and how long he'll be out of the Thrashers' line-up. Kovalchuk left the game against Edmonton before the first minute mark of the first period and he was not able to return. Kovalchuk was shown to be in a lot of discomfort on the bench after he came off of the first shift of the game, but that's where all the information ends. Stay tuned for more info.

The Canadiens didn't dress Alexei Kovalev in their game against the Islanders on Thursday night. Kovalev was under the weather with a bout of the flu on Thursday and his game-time decision was against playing. The Canadiens don't play again until Saturday, when the Devils are in town. Kovalev should be expected back in the line-up for that game, but nothing has been confirmed as of yet.

The cycle of scratched forwards continued in Phoenix, as the Coyotes dressed Daniel Winnik, but ended up scratching Martin Hanzal again. The Coyotes have now fallen down to 10 points out of the playoff race, which probably means that they are now trying combinations for next season. With all of the mixing and matching, the consistency of the team is heavily comprimised and likley won't have much of a fantasy factor in the last four weeks of the season.

The Blues were not able to dress two of their young players on Thursday night, as both Patrik Berglund and Alex Steen were out of the line-up with injuries. Berglund has been suffering from some back stiffness and was a game-time decision for last night, opting out of playing in the end. He should be considered questionable for both weekend games for St. Louis. Steen, on the other hand, has been suffering from a lower body injury, which remains a bit of a mystery. He is considered day-to-day for the moment.

A "mysterious illness" has sidelined Sergei Fedorov, as he wasn't able to go last night against the Flyers. Fedorov was not said to have the flu, just an illness which was bad enough to put him out of the line-up for the time being. There is no word as to how long he'll be out of the line-up for.
