Habs Ink Cammalleri

The Habs have now made a huge splash, taking one of the best available forwards off the board in Mike Cammalleri. The Canadiens signed him to a 5-year, $30 million deal to have him around for quite a while. There is a good potential between Scott Gomez and Cammalleri, who have now been added to their new name roster.

Cammalleri comes onto a team that didn't score a lot of points and by last season's numbers, he comes in as the best player on the team after a 82-point effort in 81 games played for Calgary. Cammalleri scored 39 goals for the Flames in 2009, which was what he was expected to do and with Gomez possibly centering him in Montreal, he has a shot at going that high once again. He shouldn't have less of a season than what he did in Calgary, but there is still some chemistry to be found before you can truly make that call.

The Habs came into the day with one of the lowest cap hits going into the day and their three signings have raised their bar a bit. They now have 15 players signed on at $43 million (approx.). They have a good solid back end already in place now, so they could very well concentrate on some more offense in the coming weeks to help finish this team model off.
