Gomez Sits Day-to-Day

The Canadiens are running into some injury troubles of their own again. Scott Gomez left Friday night's game against the Capitals in the third period with little notice. As it turns out, the Alaskan-born centre left the game with a lower-body injury, causing him to miss Saturday's game against the Red Wings. There is no word as to the severity of the injury as of yet and he's listed as day-to-day.

It's been a fairly inconsistent year for Gomez in Montreal. Despite being on the team's top line, Gomez only has two goals and nine assists in 22 games for the Canadiens. He is well-below expectations as the team's major playmaker, especially when he had a winger like Mike Cammalleri on his wing.

ImplicationsIt will be some more games missed for Clayton in the Draft pool, which may keep him out of the money positions for the time being. Clayton was said to be considering dropping Gomez in the Waiver Draft, but decided to pass, because the talent available wasn't quite as good overall as Gomez is projected to be.

Gomez is a member of Box 19 in the Sheet pool, but was not selected at all in that box. He is also on the lower end of the scoring rankings of that box, so there should be no reason to consider him at all.
