Heading Into Weekend Seven

Well, it's true. I did take a week off from the weekend preview last week, just didn't find the time to give a little something that very few people read. Nevertheless, I'm back with the preview of the weekend for the Draft.

Well, its the second-to-last weekend before a jersey gets handed out and before our Waiver Draft changes take effect. You know, the Waiver Draft that we will be holding next week. Yeah, we'll get to switch up some players next week, but first we'll have to get through three more nights of hockey before we start making any rash and uncertain decisions.

Leon still leads the charge for the jersey, holding a 10-point lead heading into Friday night's action. Dale C. and Wes M. are holding up the other money positions currently, with Clayton not too far behind.

The race for Player of the Week has only one leader heading into the weekend and it's Tim Thomas of the Bruins, who is a Draft pick of Ryan's. Thomas picked up a pair of points in a shootout loss, a 1-0 shootout loss, meaning he has credit for a shutout as well. I would imagine he will also get the start in Pittsburgh on Saturday, to try and improve on his already good numbers for the week. Ryan has yet to have a Player of the Week this season, but he'll have to fend off a number of players who are going into the weekend with five points a piece.

The Mover & Shaker award has a pretty tight race associated with it as well. Three teams: Dale C., Stuart and Trevor, are all heading into the weekend with 20 points a piece. Dale has had a M&S mention already this week, in Week Three, so the other two are trying to make sure he doesn't get his second. Trevor has moved up the most spots with his big week, making him the favourite, due to tie-break, going from 13th to 10th in his good week.

Leon, the Draft leader, has the most skater games to be played this weekend with 19, which is great news for him, because he only has 7 points heading into the weekend and will need to keep up a good pace to keep a good lead heading into Week Eight.

Scoring is back up again this week, with the return of a number of players. The average number of points coming from each NHL game this week is back up to 9.3, which is fourth highest so far this season. The return of Ilya Kovalchuk, Jonathan Toews, Devin Setoguchi, Roberto Luongo and Mike Green should all see to that.
