Semin To Miss Weekend

It looks like Alex Semin will be held out of the line-up for the Capitals' weekend set against the Maple Leafs and the Canadiens with a wrist injury. The report I read today says that there was an MRI done on the injured wrist, but there was no serious damage and that Semin is in a temporary, easily removed cast, just for some support. Missing two games shouldn't make or break a season, but it certainly doesn't help.

With the way the Capitals have been playing this season (fairly hot & cold), it doesn't come as a terrible surprise that Semin's scoring pace is just under a point-per-game. In 19 games this season, Semin has nine goals and eight assists. He's not exactly ripping it up this season, but he's also claimed that he has had the wrist injury for a couple weeks, which might give him some reason to be off the score sheet more often than not.

ImplicationsIn the Draft, Semin is on Larry's team, who currently sits 10th in the standings at the moment, almost 20 points out of the money as of Thursday afternoon. Fortunately, the injury doesn't sound too serious and Larry likely won't be dealing Semin away with his second round Waiver selection, which should be coming up soon.

On the Sheet, Semin is the most popular player in Box 19, with 25 selections this season. Unfortunately, his point total isn't the best, as he sits 4 points behind the current leaders, Vaclav Prospal and Steven Stamkos.
