Preds Re-Sign Klein

The Nashville Predators have developed a strong reputation of building up their blueline and they are very happy with Kevin Klein, as they've re-signed the defenseman to a 3-year contract extension, reportedly worth $4.05 million for the duration of the deal.

This season, Klein has a goal and 8 assists in 47 games coming into this week, which had him ranked 473rd in pool scoring this year. Now, his fantasy value isn't that high at the moment, but his rank has climbed in the past season, as he finished last year in 533rd. This gain is likely due to the gain in confidence and ice-time, but he won't be getting prime time ice with Shea Weber & Ryan Suter in the line-up, game in and game out. That being said, the Predators have assigned a good value to Klein, if anyone came a calling for him.

Salary CapIf there is one thing that can be said about the Predators, its that they really know how to manage their cap levels. With this signing today and assuming that Colin Wilson is added to the line-up in October, the Predators are standing with 14 players signed on for $36.7 million against the cap (approx.). The team does have a good number of UFAs to contend with this summer, including their goaltending tandem of Pekka Rinne and Dan Ellis, both of whom over the age of 27.
