Roloson Becomes the Scratch

When three becomes a crowd, it's likely going to keep the blog posts somewhat busy. As Rick DiPietro made his first start of the season for the Islanders, there was a bit of a shift in the goaltending dynamic for the night. Martin Biron came down from the press box to back up DiPietro, while Dwayne Roloson made a trip up to the press box to have the night off.

In 29 appearances for the Islanders, Roloson has a 16-7-6 record, without a shutout this year and has been good of late, going 4-0-1 in his last five appearances. His 32 points had him ranked 77th in pool scoring going into tonight's action, which is pretty good for the Islanders.

ImplicationsThis one is another hit for Benson in the Draft this year. Benson has both Islanders goalies and tonight was the first Islanders game that he didn't have a goalie starting and it may turn into a trend. This is why the Waiver Draft is going to be so important. Benson will have some decisions that will greatly effect his team going forward, especially in goal.

On the Sheet, Roloson was tabbed to be the back-up on Long Island, putting him in Box 32, where he was very popular. The emergence of DiPietro might have some people thinking twice, but the expected trade that would see Biron off the island will at least keep Roloson from being a healthy scratch.
