Ward Goes Home Early

According to the Hurricanes' excellent beat writer, Chip Alexander, he has reported that Cam Ward has been sent back to Carolina, instead of staying with the team in Buffalo, as he is suffering from an upper-body injury. The injury is feared to be some stiffness in his back and it will cause him to miss at least tonight's contest against the Sabres and he'll likely be re-evaluated at home.

The Hurricanes have called up Justin Peters to back-up Manny Legace tonight in Buffalo and they have also called up Box 25 centre, Zach Boychuk, from Albany of the AHL today. Boychuk will figure into the line-up, as the team is still without Erik Cole and Tuomo Ruutu.

ImplicationsWayne will miss out on a Cam Ward start, which has been his bread & butter since the second Waiver Draft. He'll be hoping for some better news over the weekend. Until then, he might need some help carrying that 7-point lead through the weekend.
