Devils Resting

I suppose when you're playing against the Maple Leafs and your team is firmly in the playoff picture, it's fair to rest some of your veteran players. Martin Brodeur didn't get the start for the Devils and Brian Rolston didn't end up playing and the Devils only lost 2-1 in the shootout, picking up the extra point for the overtime loss. That wasn't too bad overall. I would imagine that a stronger opponent would see the return of both players, just to sharpen their skills.

ImplicationsThis means it was a tough night for Dale C. to get points in the Draft, because he has both players in the pool. Dale, who finished Thursday night's action 19 points behind 8th place, has been mired in some tough streaks of late. For a team once nestled firmly in the money has now taken a bit of a free fall down to 9th place and has been stuck there for a while. Some injury problems haven't helped him at all and these non-starts are certainly not going to help. Tough season for Dale this year.
