Shutting It Down Early

The first injured player in the list may have some bearing in the Draft, but not enough to make a really big difference or earn it's own post, but Lubomir Visnovsky has now been shut down by the Ducks. Visnovsky suffered the broken hand in Tuesday's game against the Kings and that will be enough for him to miss the final three games of the season.

The Oilers are also going to shut down one of their own, as they are not going to risk further damage to Sam Gagner's ailing hip and he'll continue treatment and rehab without fear of re-injuring it in game action that means nothing to the team. I can't say that I'm terribly surprised with this call, especially since the Oilers were out of the race quite a while ago.

Another injury on Tuesday night sees another player go down for the remainder of the regular season. Box 23 forward, Blake Comeau, took a shot off of his foot in the game against the Canadiens, which ended up breaking the extremity. Comeau was having a pretty good season up until the injury and should be a centerpiece for the Islanders in the coming seasons.
