Flyers Force Game Seven

All of the "History Will Be Made" commercials have been leading up to this series, I'm thinking, because the Philadelphia Flyers are on the verge of doing something amazing to the Boston Bruins, something that hasn't been done since 1975. The Bruins have now forced Game Seven from being down 3-0 in their series with the Bruins and making the complete comeback and going through will be a feat that hasn't happened very often in pro sports history. Fantastic!

The Flyers pulled out a 2-0 win on Wednesday night, thanks to a replacement performance by Michael Leighton, who is now the Flyers number one guy, since Box 24 goalie, Brian Boucher, is now out for the remainder of the playoffs. Leighton made 30 stops in the win. Mike Richards had the opening goal and an assist as well for a 2-point night, while Daniel Briere ended up with credit for the game-winning goal, forcing this series to go to a seventh game.

With the game-winning goal, Daniel Briere continues to lead the series in pool scoring with 9 points and has now raised his playoff total to 15 points.  He currently leads Box 15 players in scoring in this year's playoffs and should be in consideration for the best team possible through two series.   Briere would need a 3-point night in Game Seven to tie both Jonathan Toews of the Blackhawks and Johan Franzen of the Red Wings for the best points total in the second round.

Game Seven will now go on Friday night in Boston for all the marbles and a chance to face to the Montreal Canadiens in the Eastern Conference Finals.  It hasn't been the best of sereis for scoring, but it's all of a sudden picked it's socks up in the 'exciting' department.
