Sturm's Regular Season Start in Jeopardy

Well, I didn't have this ready for my Pool Outlook for the Bruins, which was published today, but Marco Sturm has undergone major knee surgery and there is a good chance that he will not be ready until the second month of the regular season.  Sturm had to have ACL reconstruction, MCL repair and some meniscus work in his right knee and he is now expected to miss upwards of six months, which may or may not include a great deal of rehab.  Six months from now could very well mean that he could miss the first six weeks of the season, which suggests that he might be an okay sleeper pick-up in the first waiver draft of the season in my annual hockey pool draft.

In 76 games this season, Sturm had 37 points (22 goals and 15 assists) for the Bruins in 2010.  The six games that he missed in the season was a leg injury in January.  Sturm might get himself a minor entry in my Summer post for injury prone players, especially since he hasn't played an 82-game seeason since 2003.
