Kovalchuk Reverts to Unrestricted Free Agency

Well, I won't lie... I thought that the contract that the Devils and Ilya Kovalchuk would stand. Apparently, that isn't to be the case, as the independent arbitrator has sided with the NHL and upheld the voiding of the 17-year, $102 million deal that was signed almost a month ago.

This decision now puts Kovalchuk back on the market and make sure that all of the projections we have done for the Devils were done in pencil, just in case the two sides do not agree on a new contract and Kovalchuk heads elsewhere.
