Bolts in Traverse City

A lot has been made of all the signings and trades that GM Steve Yzerman has done to shape the Lightning's immediate future, but less has been made of the lot of prospects that he inherited and then added to at this year's Entry Draft.

The rookie roster for the Bolts is a pretty good one, especially at forward and in net.  With spots open up front, the Lightning could be filling them with some of their top prospects, including Brett Connolly, James Wright, Dana Tyrell or Carter Ashton.  We have seen Wright already in the NHL, but it will be good to see how the other three fare when training camp opens and they get to apply their trade to bigger, stronger & faster opponents.

So far at the Traverse City Rookie Tournament, the Lightning are 1-1, losing to the Blues in the opener and beat the Red Wings on Sunday.  On Tuesday, they will face off against the prospects from the Stars.
