Thrashers Getting Their Roster Trimmed

The Thrashers are down to an active roster of 30 players after sending a few more players down to the minors on Monday and placing Patrice Cormier on the injured reserve with his broken foot.  This leaves 18 forwards, 10 defense and their goaltending tandem for the rest of camp.

This should leave five cuts left to make at the forward position and three on defense, which may not be the easiest of decisions to make, as I've seen many of the names pop up on scoring sheets and in some other chatter, suggesting that they've done well in this camp.

The Thrashers have four games this week, including a home and home with the Nashville Predators, giving some more opportunities to the bubble players to make a greater impression.

Salary CapThere is still one unsigned invite in Thrashers camp, Enver Lisin, who has been sticking around, but I would have to think that he will really have to dazzle to get ahead of couple of these rookies still in camp.  Alex Burmistrov has yet to sign his entry-level deal, but by the sounds of how he is playing, one may not be very far off.  Without Lisin, Burmistrov and Cormier from the cap calculation, I have the Thrashers at 28 players and one buyout for an annual cap projection of $48.2 million, safely secured inside the cap constraints.
