Franzen Leaves With Upper-Body Injury

It is definitely too early in the season to say that someone is going to be healthy all year, no matter how much you wish that they remain in the line-up for their team.  I would think that Johan Franzen qualifies as one of those players that a lot of people, especially poolies hope they stay healthy, because he has had lousy luck in that department.

Indeed, the Mule has found his way back to the injured list after getting creamed by Mark Fistric in Thursday night's game against the Dallas Stars.  Fistric finished his check on Franzen, catching the Swede in the head with a legal, North-South, arms down check.  Franzen is now listed as having a head injury, but the severity likely won't be known until the weekend.

In the opening four games of the season, Franzen has 3 goals and 1 assist, scoring at a point-per-game rate, which looks good on him thus far.

ImplicationsIn the draft, Franzen belongs to the 9th place draft team of Dale B.'s, who has stayed relatively healthy to start the season, until now... of course.  Franzen was taken in the 6th round, 103rd overall and if he continued to score at his current rate and stay healthy, he would have been a pretty big steal.  Unfortunately, he is one of those players that we consider injury prone and he has what looks to be a pretty soft head to help drive that point home.
