Lecavalier Scratched

As the Tampa Bay Lightning took on the Dallas Stars on Monday night, they were without their captain, Vincent Lecavalier, who suffered a bruised hand on the weekend.

Lecavalier ended up blocking a Bryan McCabe shot with his hand, bruising a knuckle and the injury made it difficult for the veteran centre to grip his stick. The injury is not considered serious, more just inconvenient and he should be returning to the line-up for the team's next game.

In the first four games of the season, Lecavalier has gotten off to a slower start, only having picked up a goal and an assist.  The Lightning have not been quite as consistent all the way around the team, but there is still lots to learn with chemistry with new faces.

ImplicationsThis injury has meant that Peter has missed out on a forward game in the early part of the season.  Peter currently sits in 12th spot after Monday's action, only 2 points from moving into 7th place, so it's still pretty tight around there.  Missing out on a Lecavalier game might hurt a little bit, but looking at his current scoring pace, it may not be too much.
