Lombardi Update

The news on Matthew Lombardi has reportedly taken a turn for the worst, as it has been determined that the speedy free agent acquisition by the Predators is now suffering from a concussion and is now thought to be out indefinitely.

Before this update, the news page had him listed as out day-to-day with an upper-body injury, which apparently was indeed the case, but only now are we finding out that the injury is a little more serious than once thought.

Lombardi will definitely be out for at least the next week, with another evaluation set for him next Monday and likely then we'll learn the extent of how long they expect him to be out.

Lombardi has only figured into two games with the Predators this season, failing to register a point there.  Lombardi signed a 3-year deal with the Predators in July and it looks like it will be awhile before he starts paying off.

ImplicationsIn the draft, Lombardi belongs to Dale C., who made a jump into 15th position with a big night on Monday.  Dale drafted Lombardi in the 12th round, 227th overall, suggesting that the draftees didn't believe that Lombardi could replicate the breakout year he had in Phoenix while in his new home of Nashville.  Well, those predictions are likely going to come true, but not for the same reasons foreseen.
