Sheet Player News (Oct 27)

A couple pieces of news from the Ducks organization and we'll begin with an injury update... Dan Sexton has undergone surgery to help repair multiple fractures in his nose and he'll miss the next couple weeks to recover. Box 8 Sexton suffered the injury on the weekend and will join Cam Fowler on the sidelines with the same injury.

The second piece of news from Anaheim sees Box 6 forward Jason Blake getting a night off as a healthy scratch, due to a lack of production. In the first nine games of the season, Blake only has 1 goal and 1 assist to his name and the team definitely needs a little bit more out of him on a nightly basis.

Box 13 defenseman Jim Vandermeer appears to have been a healthy scratch for the Oilers on Tuesday night, as they took on the Calgary Flames. Vandermeer has 2 points in the first six games of the season for Edmonton, but it was likely that the Oilers decided to go with some younger legs in that game. I would expect to see Vandermeer in the team's next outing.

Flyers agitator Dan Carcillo made another trip back up to the press box as a healthy scratch on Tuesday night, as he's finding himself with less and less of a role these days with the Flyers. The Box 23 forward is considered fairly gritty, but does tend to take some needless penalties. I think we'll see Carcillo in the press box a lot this season, barring injury to the rest of the team.

Box 23 forward Colby Armstrong left Tuesday night's game with an apparent upper-body injury after taking a slash around the arm/wrist, leaving the ice immediately and not returning.  I haven't seen an injury update early on in the morning on Wednesday, but when one comes down, I'm sure it will be posted.
