Briere Gone For 3 Games

On Monday morning, news of a 3-game suspension for Daniel Briere had dropped for his actions late in Saturday night's game against the New York Islanders, when he cross-checked Frans Nielsen in the head during a face-off scrum.

The Flyers are set to play four games this week, including the rematch against the very same Islanders on Saturday, but Briere will not be eligible to return until Sunday, the 7th, when the Flyers take on the Capitals.

In preparation of Briere's suspension, the Flyers called up Box 25 forward Eric Wellwood, but there has been no early indication whether or not he'll draw in for the team's first game this week, tonight versus the New Jersey Devils.  Thankfully, one of my Box 25 players has been called up, so it isn't a complete waste for him to be on the sheet.

ImplicationsThis suspension will mean that John P. will be without one of his guys for the bulk of the week, which won't likely be a great deal of help to his 15th position.  Briere has been a pretty good scorer this season for the Flyers and John, so his absence will be felt, I'm thinking.  John only sits 4 points better than 18th position, so there is definitely some room to fall this week.
