Jokinen Suspended 3 Games

The Flames' Olli Jokinen was handed a 3-game suspension on Thursday afternoon for a cross-check that he gave to Coyotes' forward Wojtek Wolski in the 3rd period of the game on Wednesday night.

As you can see in the video below, Jokinen gave a pretty vicious cross-check to the head of Wolski, who was, for the most part, unsuspecting of the stick being so high.  Jokinen was assessed a 5-minute major for cross-checking and a game misconduct on the play.

Wolski did not appear to be injured on the play and according to the ice-time report on NHL.com, he did play in three more shifts after the incident had happened.

Jokinen will be eligible to return on Wednesday, November 24th, when the Flames visit the Devils.  He will miss games against the Blackhawks, Red Wings and Rangers during his suspension.

ImplicationsThe suspension will give Ryan M. a few less opportunities to earn points, which may jeopardize his spot in 11th spot for the time being, having being tied with John P. for points at the present moment (ahead on goals), means there is a good chance he may fall out of that spot without Jokinen.
