Quick Hits for Draft Players

Shawn Horcoff was kept out of the Oilers line-up against the Hurricanes, due to a charley horse, which he suffered in the team's last game against the Blackhawks.  Horcoff's presence down the middle was sorely missed, as the Oilers dropped a real stinker in Carolina, but there is yet to be word if the team's new captain will be able to draw back in right away or not.

The Tampa Bay Lightning decided not to try and aggravate a lower-body/back injury that forward Steve Downie has been dealing with of late, keeping Downie from drawing in against the Toronto Maple Leafs on Tuesday night. The Lightning didn't seem to miss Downie for the game, beating the Leafs 4-0.  No word on what his status is for the team's next game, Thursday in Washington.

The Canucks had their full compliment of defensemen now ready to go, as Dan Hamhuis returned to the line-up for their game against the Canadiens on Tuesday night, which meant a player had to be scratched from the line-up to make room. Unfortunately, Keith Ballard was the one that drew the short straw and was the player in the press box.  The Canucks did end up losing the game 2-0, so I would imagine we'll see Ballard draw back in against Ottawa on Thursday.

ImplicationsThese injuries and scratches are not considered serious or terribly detrimental to their NHL clubs, nor should they be to the pool teams at the moment. Benson, Kristy & Don and Wayne all missed out on at least one game with their players, respectively down the post, which doesn't really help them in their fight for the money, as they are all in the top 10 in the standings at the moment.
