Sheet Player News (Nov 17)

The Edmonton Oilers do not expect to have Box 14 defenseman Ladislav Smid in their line-up for at least the next week after suffering a concussion from the sucker punch given to him by Sean Avery on the weekend. Smid will have to sit out the league-minimum week after the prognosis of the concussion was dropped, but in the general sense of the concussion, we'll have to call him out indefinitely, since the injury differs from player to player.

The Panthers must be getting healthier on their blueline again with the news that Box 30 defenseman Keaton Ellerby has been sent back down to Rochester of the AHL this week, finishing up his latest stint with 3 assists in seven games played with the club.  There didn't seem to be much word on whether or not Ellerby will return to the club soon from his demotion.

A major blow to the Kings line-up, as Box 8 forward Scott Parse is now expected to miss upwards of four months after undergoing hip surgery this week.  Parse has already been dealing with injury problems already this year, playing in only five of the Kings' first 16 games.  Parse does have 4 points in those five games, which makes things tough to swallow in theory.  This injury could be a big break for one of the team's young players now.
