Fractured Nose Sidelines Connolly

After being checked from behind by Tampa's Nate Thompson on the weekend, Sabres forward Tim Connolly will undergo re constructive surgery to fix a fractured nose this week.  The fracture actually sounds like it's fairly harmful for Connolly, but it also sounds like there is a certain possibility that he could be back in action before the New Year.  Of course, if there is going to be any compromise to his breathing, I'm sure the team will take their time with nursing him back to health.

It has been another injury-troubled season for Connolly and we haven't even hit the halfway point of the year yet.  Connolly has only figured into 25 of the team's 34 games this season, scoring 6 goals and adding 8 assists.  It's hard to determine whether or not the injuries have played a part in Connolly's poor scoring pace ro it was just the team around him when he is in the line-up bringing him down.  Either way, it has not been a great year in Buffalo for most players, not just Connolly.

With this being his second injury this season, the injury prone tag has been justified for yet another season and he likely shouldn't be considered for your pool team, no matter how good his hands are.

ImplicationsOf course, someone is bound to gamble on Connolly and someone did in the draft this year.  Dale C. has not had the best of years either in the pool, as he sits in 19th spot this year, 6 points out of 18th and 9 points up on 20th, so there is a bit of a buffer before any movement there.  Connolly was Dale's 7th round pick, 134th overall, but coming into Week Twelve, he was ranked 252nd, so the gamble is far from paying off.
