Draft Player Scratches (Jan 14)

An undisclosed injury kept Blues' defenseman Carlo Colaiacovo out of the line-up on Thursday night against the Kings and there is no word to whether or not the defender will miss any more time or what he actually is hurting from.  Colaiacovo has been one of the better defensemen for St. Louis this season, so missing him for an extended period of time might be hazardous to their success.

Colaiacovo has been one of the brighter spots for Benson in the draft this season, as he was the last pick on the team and he has already produced 16 points this season from the back end.  Benson currently holds the last money position, as he has fallen out of the race in the top three, so a quick return would be appreciated, I'm sure.

The Maple Leafs also withheld injury information for one of their key acquisitions in the Summer, Kris Versteeg, who missed Thursday night's game against the Coyotes with an undsiclosed injury.  Versteeg likely was hurt in the team's win against the Sharks on Tuesday, but it will be a little while before we find out any more information.

Versteeg was an 11th round pick of Kristy and Don's this year and could have been a much better bargain, if the Leafs were a little bit more offensive this year.  Nevertheless, the duo are in the top three in the standings are right in the thick of the fight for top spot.  Going into Friday's action, they were tied for the lead with Allan S., holding a small margin in the first tiebreaker, which gives them the official lead.
