Pre-Game Notes on Friday (Jan 7)

The Red Wings will be without the services of Valtteri Filppula for Friday night's game against the Flames, thanks to a groin injury he suffered this week. The team has announced that he is day-to-day with the affliction and there was no word if he will be able to go against the Canucks on Saturday night.

The New York Rangers will set the stage for Ryan McDonagh's NHL debut tonight, as Michal Rozsival will not be dressing due to sore ribs.  Rozsival is dealing with some muscle soreness in his torso around the ribs, which he had picked up during the game against the Hurricanes during the week.  Rozsival has been skating and should be considered day-to-day for now, but do keep an eye on McDonagh, as he is a worthy prospect for the Rangers blueline.

The word on Pascal Leclaire keeps getting worse and worse as the days pass by.  Leclaire was scheduled to be ready to back-up Brian Elliot tonight against the Blackhawks, but it sounds like his lower-body injury has found some more setbacks and he will undergo some more tests about it.  Robin Lehner has received an emergency recall because of this turn of events and you would have to think he might have a regular job here soon if Leclaire doesn't get any better.
