Isles Re-Sign Parenteau

The New York Islanders have signed forward PA Parenteau to a new 1-year contract extension, giving him a significant raise for a cap hit of $1.25 million for the 2012 season.  He was scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent at the end of this season.

Parenteau has made himself into a valuable member of the Islanders, finding good chemistry with some of the younger players on the team, which was likely the leading reasons for the contract extension.  In 56 games this season, Parenteau has 14 goals and 21 assists, good enough to be 127th in pool scoring.

Parenteau's scoring habits have even pushed him up into the realm of the draft pool, being picked in one of the waiver drafts this year and has not been too bad since being picked up.  With his numbers improving and the team around him also improving, he might be a good bargain pick-up next season.
