Tanguay Lost Indefinitely to Concussion

The Flames have reportedly taken a major hit to their short-term future, as Alex Tanguay has been diagnosed with a concussion and will now be out of the line-up indefinitely. A concussion will carry at least a week out of the line-up, but by the sounds of the reports, it's a little bit more than a mild concussion, one a player would normally bounce back from.

The Flames are also reporting that Adam Pardy will be out indefinitely with a shoulder injury, an update to his previous post on Tuesday morning.

These are two sizable hits to a team that has worked their way into the playoff conversation in the Western Conference, especially Tanguay, who was starting to find his stride in the team's offense.

In the 2011 season, Tanguay had been enjoying somewhat of a bounce back to his career, leaving the line-up with 42 points (14 goals and 28 assists) in 55 games played, ranking him 60th in pool scoring.  In 2010, he had only finished with 37 points in 80 games and in 2009, 41 points in 50 games.  The Flames can only hope that he is out of the line-up for a couple of weeks at best with this scoring rate at the moment.

ImplicationsIn the draft, Tanguay belongs to the 10th place team that belongs to Stacey C., who likely could have used this information only just a few days ago, during the second waiver draft.  Instead, Stacey ended up passing on his 2nd round pick, not knowing the terrible news that lied ahead.

Stacey is only 1 point up on 11th and 6 ahead of 12th, so there could be a bit of a falling out with this injury.  A real tough break for him.
