Draft Player Scratches (Mar 4)

It hasn't been a great stretch for Bruins prodigal son, Tyler Seguin, who spent Thursday night's game as a healthy scratch again.  Seguin has been having difficulties dealing with the rigors of the long schedule and it could very well be a blessing in disguise that the number two overall pick last Summer is getting some rest before the Spring Dance.  I don't think we can look into this too much, but he might have to find another game in the press box, maybe two, before the regular season comes to an end.

In Seguin, Wayne H. lost a game out of one of his youngsters last night and despite his slight loss, his team is trying to challenge for 7th spot in the standings, but is also well down in the third segment standings, in a tie for 13th and also 41 points back.

A 6-4 loss to the Blackhawks came at an even greater price for the Calgary Flames, as they have potentially lost the services of their acting number one centre, Brendan Morrison, for the foreseeable future.  Morrison reportedly suffered a knee injury in the game and did not return, undergoing tests on Thursday, but no results have yet been disclosed, but the fears are significant.  We'll consider him day-to-day for the time being, but it could potentially be worse.

A team being chased by Wayne H. in the standings is Dale B. and he is now worrying about Morrison being healthy going forward.  Dale is in 6th place overall this season, 19 points out of the money and 21 points up on Wayne in 8th.  There is a good buffer in there for him, so it might not get any better or worse.

It's kind of funny how the first two bytes have a relation to this next one, as the number one pick overall in the Summer left Thursday night's game with an ankle injury.  Taylor Hall had a tussle with Derek Dorsett of the Blue Jackets and the end of the fight may have been costly for the young dynamic forward, as he limped off the ice on his own power with the injury.  I don't think we'll receive an update on his condition before Saturday's pre-game skate, unless there is something significant in the reports first thing.  I would imagine that swelling will have to go down before the injury can be properly diagnosed though.

With Seguin being a healthy scratch more often than not, Wayne can't really afford to lose his other young player in the pool, as Hall is his as well.  Wayne may be without Hall for quite some time and all those numbers I've pointed out so far will likely be affected again here as well.

The Philadelphia Flyers worst threat in Week Twenty-Two is likely the flu bug, which has been travelling around the locker room.  On Thursday night, both Jeff Carter and Daniel Carcillo were held out of the game against the Maple Leafs because of the illness.  Neither player are expected out of the line-up for any more action, but it is worth noting that they were not in the line-up for the 3-2 loss.

A game away from Carter has hindered Clayton C.'s chances of staying out of the basement again this season, but he should back in the line-up for the team's next game on the weekend.

The Lightning were without Vincent Lecavalier to start their bout against the Bruins on Thursday night, after suffering a mid-body injury the night before against the Devils.  There is a concerning level of uncertainty about how severe the injury is to Lecavalier, but an update likely won't drop until the weekend.

During the game against the Bruins, the Lightning also lost the services of Steve Downie, but as of late Thursday night, there were no more updates as to the condition of the grinding forward.

The biggest loss in the races in the draft will likely be Downie, who belongs to Kristy and Don.  The duo have the best team in the money in Week Twenty-Two, trying to pull in some points on 1st place, where they now sit 17 points out going into Friday night.
