Sheet Player News (Mar 27)

There could be a bit of a blueline rotation going on with the Avalanche, as they move down the stretch and play out the remaining portions of their schedule. Box 29 defenseman Matt Hunwick was a healthy scratch for the team on Saturday afternoon, as the Avalanche visited the Kings.  I would imagine he'll draw back into the line-up and possibly out again, before the end of the year.

Box 29 defenseman Alexandre Picard was held out of the Canadiens line-up on Saturday night with a lower-body injury. There is no further word on the severity of the injury, but the defenseman was held out of practice on Friday, as well as the game on Saturday, so further participation in the season may be jeopardy.

A couple of injuries to the New Jersey blueline hit the Devils kind of hard on Saturday, in a 2-0 loss to the Sabres. Both Anton Volchenkov and Colin White suffered lower-body injuries on Friday night, having to leave that game against the Penguins.  It didn't sound like either injury was too serious, but there was an emergency call-up for White's position on Saturday, as Jay Leach filled in.

The Maple Leafs are continuing to lose ground in the Eastern Conference playoff race and Jonas Gustavsson continues to sit in the press box for the Leafs. Well, I don't think one is because of the other, since James Reimer is doing a good job of keeping the Leafs in games that they eventually lose. Gustavsson is now the third goalie on the chart and the Leafs won't risk losing him for nothing by sending him through waivers right now.
