Sheet Player News (Mar 9)

The Colorado Avalanche decided on sitting Box 9 forward Ryan Stoa on Tuesday night, as the team took on the Minnesota Wild in one of the last gasp sort of games to possibly contend for a playoff spot this season, but the move failed to generate enough offense for the game, as the Avalanche lost 5-2, bringing their playoff death number down to 9.  I don't think there is too much to this one, as Stoa had been up and down between the minors a bit this season as well.

Another Box 9 forward was made into a healthy scratch on Tuesday night, as the Predators sent Blake Geoffrion up to the press box for their key match-up against the Sharks in San Jose.  The Predators did get an overtime result out of the Sharks, but still ended up losing the game, still sitting only 1 point out of the playoffs after last night.  Playing a team like the Sharks likely meant that they wanted a bit more veteran presence in the line-up, hence the scratching of Geoffrion.

The Coyotes were hit by a rash of injuries before Tuesday night's game, including Box 6 forward Martin Hanzal, who was one of three players sidelined with lower-body injuries.  There wasn't much more detail given out before the game against the Canucks, but with Hanzal playing the kind of minutes that he is this season, there likely is a concern that he couldn't play that way without being 100%.  If there are more details about his injury, you'll be able to find them here, but for now, consider him day-to-day.
