Sheet Player News (Apr 9)

The first steps for the Sabres going into the playoffs involve Ryan Miller becoming healthy again and he started back on the bench as the back-up, meaning Patrick Lalime was a healthy scratch once again.  Lalime has not been the goalie of choice for the Sabres, only having limited starts and no wins to show for his few efforts.  It was likely a very long season for him.  The Box 32 goalie will likely be finding a new home for the 2012 season.

A shoulder injury was enough to hold Box 23 forward Steve Bernier out of the Panthers' line-up on Friday night and there is a good chance that he won't play in the team's season finale on Saturday at home to the Capitals.  With Florida out of the playoff picture, there isn't much more to say about this injury.

The curious case of J-P Dumont continues with the Predators, as the Box 2 forward was a healthy scratch again on Friday night, as the Predators clinched their playoff spot with a win against Columbus. He won't be participating in the playoff pool, so there is little concern that way, but it does seem so strange that he's the odd-man out, without a bit more justification.

Box 12 defenseman Matt Niskanen appears to have been a healthy scratch for the Penguins on Friday night, as the team played on Long Island.  I am wondering if he was just held out of the line-up for precautionary or resting measures, making sure that he will be fresh for the start of the playoffs, possibly dealing with something minor that is just nagging his play a bit.  Hard to say, exactly, but there has been no real mention of injury, so we'll see.
