Leafs Make Cuts

The Maple Leafs made some significant cuts on Sunday afternoon, as they sent 14 players down to the Marlies of the AHL, trimming down the roster to a manageable number. Included in those cuts was rookie hopeful Joe Colborne, who I had pegged as a possible rookie steal this season. That isn't to say that he wouldn't be coming back up to the big club at any point, but it does diminish his chances of being selected in the draft on Tuesday night.

With Matt Frattin having a very good training camp, it should come as no surprise that he is still up with the club, fighting for one of the last spots on the roster.  I have now put Frattin in at 30 points, if he can crack the opening night roster.

Also having a good camp for the Leafs, defenseman Jake Gardiner, but he'll have a hard time cracking a blueline that boasts a good number of seasoned NHL'ers.
