Rangers Injury Concerns in Camp

A couple of notes in Rangers camp of note, one more pool worthy than the other, but will note them both.

Defenseman Marc Staal is being held out of training camp for precautionary measures, as he is suffering from some recurring post-concussion symptoms stemming from a hit back in February. Staal was cleared on the baseline tests last season and was able to continue to play, as per NHL protocol, but has since been suffering from the symptoms in the off-season. Staal has been cleared to play by team doctors, but both the player and the club are being very cautious with his situation and rightfully so.

The other injury of note, Brandon Prust, who underwent off-season shoulder surgery 10 weeks ago, still has not been cleared for contact in Rangers camp, which is delaying his availability for the line-up in the pre-season.  Prust, who plays a very rough and tumble game, is expected to get cleared in the next week or so, play in an exhibition game overseas, before playing in the regular season.

Staal is projected to be picked in the pool draft next week, so his status is a big concern for poolies heading towards the draft, while Prust has an outside shot at being picked in the draft, depending on how deep the draft goes.
