Flames Win Without Glencross

On Wednesday night, the Calgary Flames halted the Colorado Avalanche's tear around the NHL in visiting rinks with a 4-2 win and they did it all without the services of one of their best players in the early part of the season, Curtis Glencross. Glencross has been dealing with some "lower-body soreness," which has been keeping him out of practices earlier in the week. Glencross did give the body a try in the morning skate on Wednesday, but was held out of the line-up, obviously not feeling 100%.

In seven games this season, Glencross has tallied 3 goals and he has provided a solid physical presence for the club, which has gone a long way to keeping up the faith in some rough times for the club.  Glencross currently ranks 234th in pool scoring, which isn't quite a bargain for his selection in the pool, but that number should be turning around sooner, rather than later.

ImplicationsGlencross belongs to Dale B. in the draft this season, an 11th round pick, 235th overall, which actually makes his point level about right for the early part of the season, when you compare his selection to his rank after Wednesday night's games.

Dale currently sits in 8th spot in the standings, only 9 points out of 3rd place, through Wednesday night's action.  There's a busy night in the NHL ahead on Thursday and Dale should have a good number of games to help him back into better striking distance of the top three.
