Sheet Player News (Oct. 20)

The Edmonton Oilers saw the return of defenseman Ryan Whitney to their line-up on Tuesday night against the Flames, which meant that they had to cut down their roster. On Wednesday, they sent defender Jeff Petry down to the AHL, likely to give him some more minutes on the ice, as he likely doesn't fit into the plan in the near future. If any more injuries are to happen to the OIlers blueline, I would imagine Petry would be one of the first call-ups.

It sounds like forward Nazem Kadri is healthy again, but the Maple Leafs don't have any wiggle room in a line-up that is already posting an astonishing amount of wins in the early part of the season, so Kadri will get his legs back with the minor league affiliate in the AHL. Kadri has been out for the start of the regular season because of a knee injury, but I believe we'll see Kadri up with the big club before too long.

On Monday, defenseman Ron Hainsey left the Jets game against the Penguins with an upper-body injury and was not able to return to the game.  Tuesday, he missed out on practice and on Wednesday night, he did not dress for the club in their game against the Maple Leafs.  The injury does not sound too serious, so he'll be listed as out day-to-day for the time being.
