Sheet Player News (Oct 8)

Opening night for the Hurricanes against the Lightning didn't go too well for the home team, as they were trumped 4-1 to open the season. Depth defenseman Derek Joslin lost out on an opening night spot to a couple of rookies, who were thought to be considered long shots to make the line-ups at the start of camp. For his sake, however, the loss may be a blessing, as he may work his way back in from being the seventh defenseman before too long.

The Nashville Predators took a shot with young forward Niclas Bergfors in the off-season, but an early healthy scratch on opening night is not filling anyone with confidence that he'll be a key player for the team this season.  Sure, it's still early in the year, but Bergfors is considered to be a top six type of player and it will be difficult to keep his confidence high when he is stuck in the press box.
