Draft Player News (Feb. 5)

Lots of skepticism surrounding the claims of the flu bug hitting Colorado Avalanche forward Peter Mueller, who had been diagnosed with the flu and it turned out to be a concussion and he missed out on a couple months worth of action. I'm going to take the club at its word for what it's worth and saying that Mueller does have a bit of bug and will be day-to-day.  It also appears that Avalanche defenseman Ryan Wilson was a healthy scratch on Saturday afternoon against the Canucks, also likely going to be considered for the line-up for the team's next game next week.

Well, as it so happens, this will be the last appearance for both players in the draft news, as they have both been dropped this week, Mueller dropped by John P. and Wilson dropped by Benson G., both pool teams looking for immediate improvements from their new additions.  Neither of these players will have any more impact in the draft this year.

An MRI on Devils rookie defenseman Adam Larsson's back came back negative over the weekend, which is some pretty good news, as the team held him out of Saturday afternoon's game against the Flyers. There were some fears that his back injury could have been a bit more serious, but the news came down on Saturday that it is only a solid bruise on his back, so he'll likely miss out on Sunday's game, just waiting to get 100% for the stretch run.

Larsson has been a decent pick-up on the blueline this season for Peter H., who has picked up 16 points in 48 games this year from the 2011 1st round pick.  Larsson currently sits in 73rd in pool scoring among defensemen, making him into a solid pool-worthy player in his first year on the ice.  I think we can all expect big things from him in the future.
