Sheet Player News (Feb. 24)

The Dallas Stars welcomed Sheldon Souray back into their line-up for their key Western Conference match-up against the Blackhawks, which they won in the end, and it was Box 14 defenseman Adam Pardy, who came out to make space for the veteran defender.  Pardy has been a regular scratch throughout the regular season, so this is nothing new, he just makes a return to the blog posts, because he was in the line-up for the last week and his name was removed on Monday.  In 26 games played in Dallas, Pardy has 1 assist to his name.

The rough season for Magnus Paajarvi continues in Edmonton, suffering a leg injury in the Oilers' game against the Flyers on Thursday night.  Paajarvi collided with Flyers' forward Scott Hartnell in what appeared to be a knee-on-knee hit, possibly getting hit higher up in the thigh.  There was no immediate word as to the severity or the location of the injury, but it didn't look too good.  Paajarvi managed to leave the ice under his own power, but he couldn't put any weight on his leg.  I would imagine that we will hear about any updates before the end of the day on Friday.

It appears that Josh Harding was unable to dress for the Minnesota Wild, due to a bout of the flu on Thursday night. There was an initial fear that Harding had suffered some kind of injury, but according to an article this morning, all of the tests have come back negative and it is more of an illness that is keeping Harding from getting in his gear these days.  The team called up Matthew Hackett to play as back-up on Thursday night and since the team is playing on back-to-back nights on the road, there looks to be a chance that Hackett will get one of Harding's scheduled starts.

After blocking a shot in the Sharks' last game against the Blue Jackets, newly-acquired forward Dominic Moore was on the shelf for Thursday night's game in Toronto with a lower-body injury.  Moore hasn't been able to make a major impact with his new team as of yet, but when the playoffs come around, he'll be leaned on for defensive zone play and faceoffs, which is something that cost them their second round series against the Canucks last Spring.  If nothing is broken with Moore, I would imagine that he'll be back in the line-up next week.

Things are not going very well for Benn Ferriero, who wasn't able to fill in for Moore in the line-up on Thursday night, as the team decided to dress Jim Vandermeer in a forward position, instead of his usual defenseman position.  Ferriero hasn't been terribly productive this season and now his team is showing him the hard way, making him sit in the press box for someone not used to the position.  At the trade deadline, this adds another wrinkle or another possibility to go down on Monday.  It is either a trade or a demotion in the next few days.

The Winnipeg Jets have climbed into the Southeast Division lead on Thursday night after a win over the Tampa Bay Lightning and a Florida Panthers shootout loss, which is huge for the team and the city, but it isn't for Box 23 forward Eric Fehr, who was made into a healthy scratch again for the game.  The Winnipeg native has not fared well this season after all of the fan fare of his acquisition by the team, not long after the move, but since then, the injuries and the inconsistency has kept him from being a real heart-warming story.  It looks like Fehr may be skipped over for the Playoff Pool as well.
